Helped the Tampa Bay Times with two new CMS installations while senior online news editor from 2007 to 2016, training my co-workers with materials I developed. Edited and published video to several platforms at the Times and as editor’s assistant for VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation, since 2013. Expert in Adobe Creative Suite / Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Dreamweaver and InDesign / InCopy. Wrote search engine optimized (SEO) headlines, video descriptions and metadata tags. Managed newsroom social media accounts to engage readers and promote our work. Microsoft Office power user, especially Excel. Monitored Omniture and Chartbeat Web analytics reports to maximize site traffic.

Web development

Wrote and edited HTML5, cascading style sheet (CSS) and JavaScript code for multimedia reports on the Times’ website and blogs. Self-taught in Bootstrap framework.

Writing and editing

Accomplished writer and editor. Directed reporters and photographers as a lead member of the Times’ breaking news team. Appointed to the committee that updated and maintained the Times’ newsroom style guide to accommodate changes in English conventions and usage. Entrusted by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists to polish and present their work in print and online.

I’m certified as a USA Swimming meet official, trained with a clear and consistent knowledge of the rules used in all levels of competition. I’m subject to background checks and specialized training to protect athletes from abuse.
